it’s an ice in my wine sampling random music and play catch up on current events type of night

and i’m reading this article about the cheating epidemic, mainly rich college kids (including those in post grad) who have ‘hustled’ their way through school — not in the paying for tuition sense but the paying ghostwriters and/or classmates to do their work sense. kids who’ve confessed to entirely plagiarizing theses with no shame.

the article then has a detailed account from the perspective of the ghostwriter. how clients approach them, the type of projects they take on… it’s one vicious cycle. those who ask for the service and those who accept it.

call it an education drug deal. writers who can’t land legit writing jobs take their conscience out of the equation, focusing on the task at hand and the glamor of getting paper.

not that i didn’t already have strong opinions on the matter, the feelings simply have resurfaced. for lack of better words, it’s not fair. for each busted hiney that did their work and dealt with the consequences of a poorly written assignment due to partying too hard, time constraints, or downright laziness, at the very least it’s their own.

seriously, sac up. there are people who would kill for the chance at an education.

i wouldn’t be surprised if this is how some of us get dumb as soup co-workers.

from the city of wind, in a love-hate tango with nostalgia, doubts there'll ever be a point when common will not be relevant, revels in (eases) life's cherry pits, and fueled by words & beats.
